Yes, You Can Run Windows 95 on an Xbox One – Popular Mechanics

What better use for brand new technology than to use it to boot up some old software? Duke Nukem 3D is always a solid choice. But what about when the ability to play Duke Nukem 3D isn’t enough? Well then, you need to install Windows 95, and then play Duke through that. Luckily, thanks to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, your dream can come true on the Xbox One. 

The Anniversary Update is geared towards making the Xbox One more friendly to legacy apps. In fact, it makes it so friendly that this YouTuber was able to port the Dosbox emulator into the system through it, and then use Dosbox to run Windows 95, and then use Windows 95 to play Duke Nukem 3D

While it’s unlikely that this port will make it into the Xbox Marketplace,  seeing that old startup bar, and then Duke’s face, shows that the Anniversary Update could allow for things Microsoft never really intended. And things there is maybe not a very good reason to ever actually do, besides for laughs.
