E3 2016: Microsoft to Announce Xbox One VR aka Xbox Scorpio, What We Know So Far About the Console – The Bitbag

The E3 event is one of the biggest extravaganzas when it comes to the world of gaming. This is the when gaming companies would announce the latest games and gadgets to the world. As for E3 2016, one of the many big things gamers can expect during the expo is the announcement by Microsoft for its latest console: the Xbox One VR aka Xbox Scorpio.

Xbox Scorpio is probably going to be one of the gadgets that will be stealing headlines during E3 2016. But what exactly do we know about the latest console from Microsoft? Well, here are some of the stuff that you should know about Xbox Scorpio even before it sees the light of day.

  • Improved GPU – According to a report from CNET, the Xbox Scorpio is expected to have a new graphics chip that will give the console up to “four times the horsepower”. The same report cites that with this graphics power, it will be powerful enough for an Oculus Rift VR headset.
  • More Powerful than the Playstation Neo – The same CNET report mentions that the Xbox Scorpio could be a lot more powerful than the VR ready Playstation NEO from Sony. While leaked documents suggest that the upcoming Playstation console boasts raw performance of about 4.14 teraflops, the Xbox Scorpio is supposedly targeting 6 teraflops which would certainly put it on top.
  • Microsoft is Working with Oculus for the VR-ready Xbox ScoprioAlphr reports that Microsoft is said to be working with Oculus on a VR-ready Xbox console. This certainly comes as no big surprise as Microsoft does not have its own VR headset yet while Oculus already has the Rift. Working together for the Xbox One VR aka Scorpio is simply these two companies joining forces to make one amazing console.
