Deus Ex Go confirmed for later this year

Mobile puzzle series now includes future-tech adventure series

Square Enix today confirmed plans to release Deus Ex Go, a mobile game based on its stealth and combat cyber-dystopian franchise.

Due out on mobile platforms later this summer, the game follows the essential turn-based template of previous releases from in-house developer Square Enix Montreal, such as Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go. Players take on the role of Adam Jensen as he makes use of combat, hacking and augmentations to defeat enemies. Jensen must navigate a maze of squares, avoiding bad guy attacks while taking down enemies using power-ups and special weapons dotted around the map.

"With Deus Ex Go, we really want to take the series to another level," said studio head Patrick Naud. "Building on the learnings of Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go, our goal is to push the experience a step further in terms of visual treatment and game design in order to bring you a fresh, re-imagined puzzle experience that celebrates the franchise."

The aesthetic of the game is in keeping with Deus Ex’s general theme of near-future technologies and their potential effects on individuals and society. A level creation tool for Deus Ex Go will also be added to the game, a few months after the game is released. Square Enix has yet to announce a release date. A trailer was also released today.
