When Sony’s latest game debuted during E3, it didn’t cause as much noise as they expected it would. Between, The Last of Us and Days Gone, it seemed like there was no need for another action-oriented, zombie game. But now the buzz is all about the Days Gone Xbox One rumors.
Word has it, the game won’t be getting a console import because of software incompatibility issues. Days Gone was really just made for Sony’s flagship hardware, the Playstation.
To give some context on the Days Gone Xbox One rumors, Sony developed it using the Unreal Engine 4, which is a complete suite of game development tools and textures for any aspiring game developers that can be downloaded for free. Is this the reason why they can’t bring the game over to the Xbox One?
The good news is that the Days Gone Xbox One rumors aren’t because the software is experiencing malfunctions with the game’s use of Unreal Engine 4. It’s more of, Sony just isn’t releasing it on any other console at the moment. In fact, Unreal Engine 4 is one of the strongest suits of the game.
“Apparently, the engine was a big help to Sony Bend during development, because Reese explains that it helped the studio during the prototyping phase to try out lots of things with minimal resources expended, until they found the direction for the game that they wanted,” writes a gaming review. They’re hoping the game’s strong narrative and innovative use of the Engine will get fans to play more of Days Gone, despite its lackluster reception during E3.
Days Gone is set in a post-apocalyptic Pacific Northwest and features Deacon St. John, the biker protagonist. Two years after a “global pandemic has killed almost everyone, but transformed millions of others into what survivors call Freakers,” who are considered still living, but are more animal than human. It is an open-world scenario with side quests and playable missions to move the story along, and combines elements of a traditional RPG with the colorful personality of a roving biker gang.
