Star Wars’ Mace Windu Isn’t Dead, Samuel L Jackson Says

Samuel L. Jackson appeared in three Star Wars movies–The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. His character, Mace Windu, perished in the last film, but in a response to a fan’s question, Jackson says he doesn’t believe he’s actually dead.

The fan asked Jackson whose idea it was to kill the character, and Jackson responded on Twitter, "As with most Star Wars movies, it was George Lucas’s idea to kill Mace Windu."

"He said he killed all these important characters in all these other movies leading up to that, and he said, ‘The only person left to kill that would mean anything in Episode III would be [Windu],’" Jackson explained.

"I was trying to figure out, like, really? Can’t you just injure me or whatever? But in my mind, I’m not dead. Jedis can fall incredibly high distances and not die."

Despite Jackson’s belief, Windu hasn’t made an appearance in any Star Wars shows or movies that take place after Revenge of the Sith. It’s unlikely we’ll see him in this year’s Rogue One or in Episode VIII, which is set for a 2018 opening in theaters.
