Pokémon Go goes live on iTunes and Google Play stores

Go, catch ‘em all

Niantic Labs’ mobile Pokémon-catching app, Pokémon Go, is now live on Android and iOS platforms in certain regions. While it may not be available worldwide (yet) nor compatible with every device, some Pokémaniacs are playing the game right now.

Pokémon Go is live on the Google Play Store, though many users are noting that the game is incompatible with their particular Android device — including the still-in-beta Android 7.0 (aka Nougat).

Pokémon Go is also available from the Australia and New Zealand versions of the iTunes App Store. It’s not currently available in North America.

Developer Niantic said the free-to-play mobile app, which lets players track down and capture Pokémon by visiting real-world locations, will be released widely in July, as will the Pokémon Go Plus hardware accessory. Niantic and The Pokémon Company ran a field test and beta for Pokémon Go earlier this year.
