Indigo Prophecy is heading to PlayStation 4 next week

The predecessor to games like Heavy Rain will be upgraded to 1080p

Sony confirmed on the U.S. PlayStation Blog that Quantic Dream’s paranormal thriller game Indigo Prophecy will be available on the PlayStation Store Aug. 9.

The game was originally released in 2005 on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Windows PC. The version available for PlayStation 4 will support trophies and will be playable in 1080p.

Indigo Prophecy, called Fahrenheit outside North America, was Quantic Dream’s second game and a predecessor to well known titles like Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and the upcoming Detroit: Become Human.

The story takes place in New York City, in the far-off future of 2009. The game opens with protagonist Lucas Kane, possessed by some unknown force, stabbing and killing a man in a restaurant bathroom. The player takes the role of Lucas as he uncovers the true perpetrators, as well as Carla Valenti and Tyler Miles, two NYPD officers hot on his trail.

Many of the tropes that run through Quantic Dream’s more recent games, like an idiosyncratic control scheme and emphasis on cinematic narrative, are also present in Indigo Prophecy. Fans of David Lynch projects like Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive should take note that the game features music from composer Angelo Badalamenti.

Quantic Dream’s next title, Detroit: Become Human, made an appearance at this year’s E3, but has no confirmed release date.
