State snitch game looks sharp and relevant
Here’s a new trailer for a game that’s likely to get tongues wagging. In Orwell, players take on the role of a surveillance operative who spies on the digital activities of suspected criminals, terrorists and activists.
The player chooses which information to disregard, and which to forward to the country’s spy network, known as Orwell.
The game’s name takes its lead from the George Orwell novel 1984, in which a repressive government spies on its citizens activities. But its themes are right up to date, mirroring modern concerns with how far governments are monitoring and using our communications.
Orwell is being developed by three-person team Osmotic Studios, and is due to be released later this year on Windows PC.
