But PC save data will transfer just fine.
Details about save data and achievements in the soon-to-be-released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s Game of the Year/Complete Edition have been provided by developer CD Projekt Red.
As reported by GameSpot, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers will be disappointed to learn that save data from the original game will not transfer over to the new version.
This is confirmed by Eurogamer, who disclosed a statement from the game’s community manager, Marcin Momot: “The save files on consoles won’t be compatible between different game versions (GOTY vs regular version) as they are treated by systems as separate products. This is something that’s not up to us. Sorry.”
PC users will be happy to know that Momot has confirmed via Twitter that PC save files are compatible.
Momot also revealed through his tweets that The Witcher 3 GOTY/Complete will have a separate Trophy/Achievement list. He also said that an incoming patch should arrive near the release of the new version.
The Witcher 3 GOTY/Complete’s release date of August 30 was announced last week.
