Blade Runner Sequel Adds Suicide Squad’s Joker Actor

Suicide Squad‘s Jared Leto is set to appear in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, Variety reports. It was not revealed what Leto’s role will be.

The Blade Runner sequel is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who helmed the intense thriller Sicario last year. Leto joins the likes of Ryan Gosling (The Nice Guys), Harrison Ford (Star Wars), Robin Wright (Wonder Woman), Mackenzie Davis (The Martian), and Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy).

Not much is known about the movie’s plot, though we do know it’s penned by original Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher and newcomer Michael Green (Green Lantern). It’s also known to be set several decades after the 1982 original. Original director Ridley Scott is not involved. Blade Runner was based on a Philip K. Dick novel titled, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

The film was originally slated for January 2018 before getting moved up and is now expected to hit theaters on October 6, 2017. You can check out concept art for the upcoming movie here.

Leto has made headlines recently, saying many Joker scenes were cut from Suicide Squad. Apparently, there were enough scenes to fill an entire Joker movie. Harley Quinn actor Margot Robbie recently spoke out on why she believes so many of these scenes didn’t make it into the movie.
