The top-selling game for the month of July was Grand Theft Auto V.
The top-selling console for July, as reported last week, was Nintendo’s 3DS family of systems, helped along by both the release of Monster Hunter: Generations and renewed interest in Pokemon thanks to Pokemon Go.
Microsoft issued its own statement at the start of the month congratulating itself for taking the top-spot in console sales. However, a Microsoft representative told us the Xbox One was July’s "best-selling gen eight console." It’s an important distinction, because it puts the Xbox One ahead its primary competitor, the PS4, but behind the earlier-gen 3DS.
