The Oaks’ roots run deep.
A new Japanese trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon featured a familiar face, revealing that the new games will include a cousin of the original PokeProfessor.
Fans noticed a split-second shot of what looked like Professor Oak in beach casual clothing and sporting a mullet, but 4Gamer (translated by Siliconera) reveals that it is in fact one Nariya Oak.
Nariya (that name could change for western release) is also a Professor – his studies revolve around the Alolan Forms of Pokemon we’ve seen appearing in trailers recently – and just happens to sport identical facial features to those of his Kanto cousin.
They have strong genes, those Oaks. Here’s the full trailer:
We’ve already had one bumper new trailer for the games this week, revealing new monsters, the mysterious Ultra Beasts, and the Poke Finder, which seems to be bringing a little taste of Pokemon Snap to the 3DS.
