During Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show conference, Spike Chunsoft announced that Danganronpa 3 will be released for PS4 and Vita in Japan in January 2017. No Western release was confirmed.

A new trailer shown during the conference reveals that the game’s protagonist will be Kaede Akamatsu, a new character and the first female protagonist in a mainline entry in the series.

We want to hear it.

Danganronpa 3 was first revealed during last year’s TGS and previously announced for 2016 alongside an anime, which began airing earlier this year.

Previous Danganronpa protagonists include Makoto Naegi, the playable character of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, and Hajime Hinata, the main character of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Last year’s spinoff Danganronpa: Another Episode was technically first to offer the ability to play as a woman, featuring Komaru Naegi as the main character.
