The next iteration of D3’s arcade shooter features some new enemies
Today at Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference, D3Publisher revealed the next iteration in its cult classic series, Earth Defense Force.
While very few details were offered in the debut trailer for Earth Defense Force 5, some enemies old and new were on display. In particular, the trailer featured a whole lot of giant ants, as fans of the series have come to expect, as well as a new massive frog creature that walks around on two legs and carries weapons of its own.
The last entry in the series, Earth Defense Force 4 (pictured above), was released in North America as Earth Defense Force 2025 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. According to the announcement today, Earth Defense Force 5 will be out on PlayStation 4 in 2017 in Japan, although no North American release has been confirmed.
