Iceland won’t be in this year’s version of FIFA, because EA didn’t offer its football association enough money.
According to the BBC, Iceland’s FA (KSI) said EA’s offer of $15,000 was "below their expectations."
Iceland’s exclusion will come as a surprise to many, especially following their strong run at this year’s Euro 2016 tournament in which they knocked out England. Iceland has never appeared in the game before.
"They are the ones buying these rights and they almost want it for free," said KSI president Geir Thorsteinsson to the BBC. "The performance at the Euros show that we are quite a good team and many would like to play with our team. It’s sad for the players – but the criticism should be towards EA Sports."
