Pro Call of Duty player Phillip Klemenov killed in car wreck

Single-car accident claims H2K Gaming pro, one other

The professional gamer Phillip "Phizzurp" Klemenov died early Sunday morning of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Aurora, Colo. Klemenov, who played and streamed Call of Duty competitively, was 23 years old.

Klemenov’s partner, Adrianna Lemuss, broke the news of Klemenov’s death, reports The Daily Dot. Lemuss was in the car with Klemenov. A third passenger was also killed in the single-car accident.

According to KCNC-TV of Denver, the car, a black Infiniti, lost control and overturned several times, hitting several trees and a utility pole. Police said alcohol and high speed appeared to be factors in the crash.

The report cited by KCNC did not specify who was driving, but Lemuss later disputed that alcohol was a factor, saying that Klemenov had been drinking water and "was being sober that night." Authorities said one passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Klemenov was a member of H2K-Gaming’s Call of Duty team, which recently finished eighth in the Call of Duty World League’s North American division to qualify for the season’s playoff back in July.

H2K Gaming posted this tribute to Klemenov on its Facebook page.
