Nintendo has just lifted the lid on its next games console, the Nintendo Switch. In a short video presentation, the system’s unique hybrid focus was revealed, alongside detachable controllers known as "Joy-Cons".
All of this tied in with previous rumours regarding the system, and now the final piece of the puzzle – the tech powering the console – has been confirmed.
As we reported back in July, Nvidia’s Tegra chipset is the brains of the Nintendo Switch. The system contains a custom Tegra chipset which includes a GPU "based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards."
Nvidia has previously produced its own gaming-focused "Shield" tablets but announced that it would not be producing a model for this year, adding to the speculation that it was working with Nintendo – a move which could be seen as a vindication of its attempts to court gamers with its own self-made tech.
