Don’t fake the funk on a nasty dunk.
The best selling game for the month of September 2016 was NBA 2K17 according to numbers released by the NPD Group.
The next 3 games on the list were also sports titles, with Madden NFL 17, FIFA 17, and NHL 17 rounding out the top 4.
Overall spending was down 23% over last year, according to the NPD Group. Neither the second month of the Xbox One S nor the debut of the PS4 Slim were “enough to stimulate total hardware spending.”
Last week Microsoft announced its Xbox One was the top-selling console for September 2016, its third consecutive month at the top of the charts.

- Destiny: The Collection

- Overwatch
- Forza Horizon 3

The NPD Group said Xbox One sales accounted for 37% of all hardware units sold in the month.
Nintendo’s 3DS was up 40% year over year, according to a statement from Nintendo. Its 2DS was a major contributor to those numbers, with sales up 110% over September of last year. According to NPD this was the fourth consecutive month in which 3DS sales increased over the same period last year.
