According to Deadline, Wilson will play Aquaman’s evil half brother Orm Marius, aka Ocean Master. In DC’s original comic books, Orm grew up resentful that he lacks Aquaman’s powers and took to a life of crime after developing high-tech underwater equipment.

Wilson is also known for the likes of the Fargo TV show, Insidious, and The A-Team. The actor has already featured in the DC Cinematic Universe, with a voice cameo as the President towards the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Aquaman will star Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis, while Amber Heard is to portray Mera, the Queen of the Sea. It will be directed by James Wan, who previously directed Wilson in The Conjuring and its sequel, as well as the Insidious movies and Furious 7.

Both Momoa and Heard will feature in next year’s Justice League prior to Aquaman. Last month, the first image of Mera was released–check it out here.

In a recent interview, Wan explained why he was drawn to Aquaman. "I love the possibility of creating a whole new world," he told Uproxx. "I’ve always wanted to do a world creation story and visually create this amazing, incredible, magical kingdom.

"I love the fact that Aquaman is an underdog character. I love the fact that people like to make fun of him. I feel the bar is a lot lower and I can have fun with him! What it allows me to do: I think people are a lot less precious with him than, let’s say, you were doing a Spider-Man or a Batman or whatever."

Aquaman hits theaters on July 27, 2018.
