Wes Anderson’s New Movie About Dogs Gets First Footage and Cast List

The Grand Budapest Hotel director Wes Anderson has officially confirmed his next movie, Isle of Dogs, which is a stop-motion film about canines.

In a video published today, Anderson also revealed the movie’s lineup of voice actors and showed off a very brief sequence of Edward Norton’s character, Rex. The ensemble cast includes: Bryan Cranston, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, F. Murray Abraham, Tilda Swinton, Kunichi Nomura, Harvey Keitel, Akira Ito, Akira Takayama, Koyu Rankin, Yoko Ono, Courtney B. Vance, Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, Bob Balaban, and Liev Schrieber.

Isle of Dogs is Anderson’s second major stop-motion film, following 2009’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, based on the Roald Dahl book and featuring the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep.

There is no word yet on the plot for Isle of Dogs or when it will be released.

As mentioned in the announcement video, Anderson has also launched a charity campaign through Crowdrise to benefit the Film Foundation. This is a non-profit movie preservation group, founded by Martin Scorsese. Donate $10 and you’ll be entered into a raffle, the grand prize of which is a trip for two to London to meet Anderson and get a tour of the Isle of Dogs set. The winner will also get to voice a dog in the movie–"barking, howling, and whimpering may be required."
