Girl Meets World Canceled After Three Seasons

After three seasons, Disney Channel has canceled Girl Meets World, its spinoff of the much-loved ’90s show, Boy Meets Wold.

The news was made official last night, via the show’s writers on Twitter.

The show focused on the character Riley (Rowan Blanchard), who is the daughter of Boy Meets World leads Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel), and her friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).

Blanchard posted an emotional farewell message on Twitter, in which she called Girl Meets World the "most significant event in my life thus far." You can read the full message in the tweet below.

The Girl Meets World season finale, which is appropriately enough titled "Girl Meets Goodbye," will air on January 20. Previous episodes will continue to be available digitally and on-demand.

Girl Meets World received two Emmy nominations. It was created by Michael Jacobs, who also created Boy Meets World.
