Adam Sandler Movies Reach “Half A Billion” Hours Watched On Netflix

Adam Sandler’s Netflix movies might not get the best reviews, but they are unquestionably popular. As part of its latest earnings report this week, Netflix said its users have spent “more than half a billion hours enjoying the films of Adam Sandler” since the release of 2015’s The Ridiculous 6.

That movie was followed up by The Do-Over in 2016, while the third Sandler Netflix movie, Sandy Wexler, came out last week. It’s not immediately clear if the “half a billion hours” figure includes movies on Netflix that aren’t exclusive to the platform such as Mr. Deeds and Punch-Drunk Love.

Sandler’s first deal with Netflix was for four movies, which means there is still one more to come after Sandy Wexler. In March, Netflix announced a new four-movie deal with Sandler, bringing the total number of films up to eight. All of the movies are exclusive to Netflix.

“Adam Sandler is one of the leading comedians in the film world, and his movies have proven to be extremely successful with our subscribers around the world,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement when the new four-movie deal was announced. “We are thrilled at the opportunity to extend our partnership with Adam and his entire team at Happy Madison and keep the world laughing.”
