Star Trek: Discovery, the upcoming CBS All Access original series, had its first trailer recently, finally giving fans a look to the highly anticipated show. You can check out the trailer for yourself here. Said trailer gave some insight into the characters from the new show, so let’s check out everyone that’s confirmed and a few characters we can speculate on.

First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green)
Sonequa Martin-Green (Walking Dead) plays the lead role on the show as First Officer Michael Burnham. We know she’s recently been put in position of power, and there is a lot of mystery revolving around her history. She is either part Vulcan or was raised on their home planet.
Lt. Saru (Doug Jones)
The only alien, aside from the Klingons, that the first trailer gives any depth is Lt. Saru, played by Doug Jones (Hellboy). He is part of an alien species new to the Star Trek universe. During the trailer, he says, "My people were biologically determined for one purpose alone, to sense the coming of death."
Sarek (James Frain)
James Frain (Gotham) makes an appearance as Sarek, who you may know from the original Star Trek television series as the father of Spock. He has a connection to Burnham. It’s unclear what their exact relationship is, but it seems like he has been around her since she was a child.
Captain Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh)
The first character we see in the trailer is Captain Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).
Ensign Connor (Sam Vartholomeos)
We only see a couple of quick shots of Ensign Connor, played by Sam Vartholomeos. He is a Junior Officer on the USS Shenzhou.
T’Kuvma (Chris Obi)
The trailer sets up the Klingons as the villains for the show. We get to catch a of glimpse of Chris Obi (American Gods) as T’Kuvma, who is the the leader of the Klingon Empire. The Klingons look a bit different that the ones fans are used to seeing, like Worf from The Next Generation.
The trailer shows us a quick glimpse of a bizarre, hooded alien.
Unknown Cyborg/Android Crew Member
There are a few shots of other crew members of the USS Shenzhou. We see a crew member with cybernetic implants, or this could be an early android.

Finally, there’s an alien crew member on board the ship with a blue skin tone.
