Xbox One Backwards Compatibility UPDATE: Three new games announced… but there’s a catch –

Microsoft has added three Xbox 360 titles to the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility games list… but there’s a big catch.

Microsoft’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb told Twitter followers that three games in the Steins;Gate series are now backwards compatible.

The bad news is that the games were published in Japan and aren’t widely available outside of the region.

On the plus side, the Xbox One isn’t region locked, so fans can potentially import the original Xbox 360 discs.

Xbox One users who already own the Xbox 360 classics can insert the old disc and start playing immediately.

Likewise, if you own the digital version of the game, you can download it from the My Games and Apps section of the dashboard.

If you’ve got any gaps in your Xbox 360 collection, then you might want to try the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Super Sale.

The Xbox One sale kicked off on May 16 and boasts more than 275 games discounted by up to 75%.

This includes Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV and Skate 3.

Despite the large number of backwards compatible games, fans are still clamouring for the likes of Modern Warfare 2, Skyrim and GTA 5.
