Bayonetta, Nier: Automata Dev Teases New IP

The project will involve a new director.

PlatinumGames is working on a new IP, studio producer Atsushi Inaba teased during a keynote at BitSummit.

While Inaba-san remained tight-lipped on the project, describing it as a “formless” IP, he did confirm that a new director will be involved in the game.

In addition to developing the critically acclaimed Nier: Automata, PlatinumGames is also the studio behind both Bayonetta games, as well as Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance, Vanquish (which is coming to PC next week) and several other titles.

Inaba-san also spoke to the studio’s release pace going forward, saying he’s not sure if Platinum will continue to launch a new title every single year.

Not long ago, PlatinumGames was developing a new IP called Scalebound as a Microsoft-exclusive title. The project was canceled back in January, but Microsoft renewed its trademark for Scalebound earlier this month.
