Xbox game subscription service launches June 1

Xbox Game Pass will start with 100+ titles

Xbox Game Pass, the subscription service that lets Xbox One owners download and play a selection of games for a flat monthly fee, launches June 1, Microsoft announced today.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers, however, can access the service starting today, May 24. Microsoft is offering a 14-day free trial of Xbox Game Pass, giving Gold subscribers a chance to preview the service at no cost prior to launch.

Xbox Game Pass offers “unlimited access to over one hundred great Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles” for $9.99 per month. Games include in the initial launch include Xbox One titles Halo 5: Guardians, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Mad Max, Terraria, NBA 2K16, Sunset Overdrive and PayDay 2; and backward compatible Xbox 360 titles Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, BioShock, Fable 3, Gears of War, Soulcalibur, Viva Piñata and XCOM: Enemy Within.

Xbox Game Pass is currently confirmed for Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, and the U.S.
