Report: Konami, Kojima continue to bicker

Konami continues to lock horns with Hideo Kojima more than a year after his departure from the company he helped to put on the map, according to a report by Nikkei as translated by Kotaku.

The latest flare-up comes after Kojima noted his disagreement with the direction Metal Gear is taking since his departure. During a Tokyo Game Show event last year, Kojima said he didn’t think it made sense for upcoming Metal Gear Survive to feature zombies.

After the comment, Nikkei reports, Konami sent a letter to Kojima accusing the developer of “sullying” the name of the company.

This comes while Kojima and Konami are still wrapped up in a disagreement over the compensation that Kojima should be receiving, according to Nikkei.

The Japanese news site also reports that Konami has been telling other game companies to be careful about hiring former Konami employees and for Japanese TV stations not to cover Konami. They’re also, according to the report, telling former employees that they can’t list Konami as a former employer.

Make sure you read the full story over on Kotaku for more details on the ongoing kerfuffle.

We’ve reached out to Konami and Kojima Products for comment. We’ll update this story when they respond.
