PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds update: Surprise new mode REVEALED ahead of Xbox One release – Express.co.uk

is getting a brand new game mode ahead of its Xbox One release date.

Announced during an E3 Twitch stream, the new player-vs-player game mode pits a team of zombies against a group of humans. The zombies are tasked with infecting human survivors.

According to developer Bluehole, it will exist separately from the main Battle Royale mode.

A Bluehole spokesperson described it as an exciting new game mode on Twitter: “Player controlled zombies. That is what makes this exciting for us. But again, it won’t be in the “base” game.”

Some fans are concerned that Bluehole is spreading itself too thin, and won’t dedicate as much time to fixing ongoing server issues.

But according to Bluehole, that won’t be the case: “Just because we are introducing new content does not mean we ignore the issue. Server engineers still focus on their usual work.”

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds is currently available as an Early Access game on PC.

The game was recently confirmed for Xbox One, where it will launch as a console exclusive.

It’s unclear if it will be a permanent exclusive on Xbox One, or whether it will eventually come to PS4.

Bluehole originally said it would be coming to PS4, so there’s still hope for Sony’s device.

In addition to the Zombies v Humans game mode, Bluehole is also working on new vehicles, maps and more.

One of two new maps takes place on an island on the Adriatic Sea.

The diverse map features thick forests in the north, Mediterranean coasts on the south side and snow-capped mountains in the middle.

It measures in at 8x8km and features a wide variety of different architecture depending on where players drop.

There’s also a smaller 4x4km desert city map, featuring a canyon with a river, hillside slums and small villages that have been buried by sand.
