There Are Two Excellent Deals On The Slim PS4 And Xbox One S For Amazon Prime Day – Forbes

Merry Amazon Prime Day! Today is Amazon’s opportunity to compete with Black Friday, that high holy day of American commerce that comes in late November. Today’s discounts are for Amazon Prime members only, but there are some decent deals in there mixed up with moderate deals on everything from shoes to computers and essential oils. And just like Black Friday, this is an excellent time to pick up some gaming hardware. Like I said, there are a ton of deals on both software and hardware throughout the site, so it’s worth going over there to see if anything strikes your fancy, particularly on those lightning deals that crop up for a limited time only. Overall it’s not too impressive, to be honest, but Xbox One and PS4 bundles are always reliable entries with any deal event. So here are two offers you might want to consider:

The slim PS4.

Slim PS4 + Uncharted 4The Last Of Us Remastered + Comixology for $229: The slim PS4 is an excellent console, Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Remastered are excellent games, and $229 is an excellent price for the two of them. If you haven’t made the leap into the current generation of consoles yet, it’s a cheaper and better proposition than it’s ever been. And if you were weighing your options about whether to go with the base slim PS4 or the PS4 Pro, don’t sweat it too much. The PS4 Pro is for people that sit two feet away from 4K TVs and have the cash to burn: there really isn’t a gigantic difference between the more expensive console and the more basic one. If you don’t have a current-gen console yet, the standard PS4 should make you more than happy.

This bundle also comes with Comixology, giving you access to a wide variety of comics on the PS4. I don’t really have enough experience with the app to comment on it, but more stuff is always better, right?

Xbox One S.

Xbox One S + Extra Controller + Play and Charge Kit + Halo 5: Guardians + Forza Motorsport 6 + ReCore for $239.99: Like the slim PS4, the Xbox One S is an easy recommendation. It’s a solid console with a deep library of quality games, with backwards compatibility for anyone that’s amassed a collection of Xbox 360 games. An extra controller and charger certainly don’t hurt, either, even if the world of non-Nintendo gaming has fallen down on the local multiplayer front recently. The games that come with it may not be the games you’d choose to purchase on your own, but Forza is always a favorite among realistic racing fans, and Halo 5: Guardians is a totally acceptable entry in the venerated franchise. ReCore is not as great, but this is the way things shake out.
