The Kaiju are coming
The first, full-length trailer for Pacific Rim Uprising made its debut during New York Comic Con this afternoon. It can be seen above.
Unlike the sequel’s first teaser, which was released earlier this summer and featured lead actor John Boyega in his Jaeger for the first time, the new trailer offers a better look at what’s to come. Pacific Rim Uprising picks up 10 years after the Battle of the Breach that occurred in Pacific Rim. The Jaeger program has become the Earth’s leading defense force. Jake Pentecost (Boyega), son of Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba), has been brought back into the Jaeger program by his adoptive sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) to prepare for the next wave of Kaiju monsters.
Unlike Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro will not be returning for the sequel. Steven S. DeKnight, best known for his work on Netflix’s Daredevil and the CW’s Smallville, will be taking over directorial duties. Boyega will be joined by Scott Eastwood, Tian Jing and Charlie Day, who will be reprising his role as Dr. Newton Geiszler from the first film.
Pacific Rim Uprising will be released on March 23, 2018.
