Battlefront 2’s Microtransactions Pulled After Disney Concern

Electronic Arts’ decision to pull microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront II just before the game’s launch reportedly came in the wake of concerns from Disney.

Bob Iger, Disney’s chief executive, was "alarmed" by the backlash from fans over how Battlefront II’s microtransactions were implemented, The Wall Street Journal heard from a "person familiar with the matter." As a result, Jimmy Pitaro, the head of consumer products and interactive media at Disney, contacted EA, detailing the company’s concerns about the situation.
