A new trailer for the upcoming The Predator is here. The much-anticipated movie is the latest entry in the sci-fi action franchise that started with the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic Predator in 1987 and will be the first movie in the series in eight years.
The new trailer follows the first promo, which was revealed last month. This one features mostly new footage and provides a few more plot details. We see the squad of army prisoners that co-star Thomas Jane mentioned last year, being transported to prison. Of course, they encounter a Predator along the way, and much mayhem ensues. There’s also a cool reveal at the end that suggests that the movie’s heroes will be facing something much scarier than the average predator. Check it out below:
The Predator is directed by Shane Black, who previously helmed Iron Man 3 and the crime comedy The Nice Guys, as well as writing the original Lethal Weapon. It stars Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu, Key & Peele), Sterling K. Brown (The People v. OJ Simpson), and Jacob Tremblay (Room). It releases on September 14.
Black himself acted in the original Predator, and in a recent interview with Pure Grain Audio, spoke about his approach to tackling a movie in such an established franchise. “The key to Predator has always been the group that goes up against the Predator,” he said. “The trick is to get yourself inside the mindset of a group of men and women, mostly guys in those movies, sometimes with a female protagonist as well. Mostly in the [Alien vs. Predator movies] as well, and Predators.
“You wanna find a balance. It’s not so much addressing the emotions of the characters or finding the fear in the horror film as much as finding what interests me about a horror film. Figuring out why I am the audience member I am for them.”
