Newest PS4 Update Lets You Stream Your PS4 Screen to iOS Devices

A solution to that infernal keyboard is at hand for iOS owners.

PlayStation 4 firmware update 6.50 adds remote play and a region-specific 720p streaming option.

Update 6.50 is live, and its new remote play feature was shared on the official PlayStation Twitter account. The accompanying iOS app is available to download now on iTunes.

As well as displaying the PS4 screen on your iPhone, you can use the app to control your console, use it as keyboard to enter text, and join voice chats using your phone’s mic.

You can check out the details of the update below:

  • Main features in version 6.50 update
  • You can now enjoy Remote Play on iOS devices. You can use PS4 Remote Play to connect to your PS4 system from devices such as smartphones and tablets. Download PS4 Remote Play from the App Store.
  • You can now choose 720p when you broadcast using Niconico Live. This service is only available in certain countries and regions.
  • You can now change the button assignment to perform ‘Enter’ operations fro the [circle] button to the [X] button. Select Settings > System and then select the checkbox for [Use X Button for Enter]. This option is only available for specific countries and regions.

Earlier this week, PlayStation shared the March lineup for free PS Plus games.

This month’s titles include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness.
