One summer can change everything
The Stranger Things kids are back in the first trailer for season 3 that uses actual footage from the Netflix mystery series.
Prior to this trailer, Stranger Things released a few ’80s-themed promos, including an advertisement for the in-universe Starcourt Mall and a cryptic date announcement told via 1985 New Year’s Eve broadcast. A pretty barebones teaser revealed the names of the upcoming episodes. Another showed rats scurrying across an abandoned warehouse.
Thankfully, this new trailer sheds a little more light on the story. Along with all the kids reuniting we also see the town of Hawkins trying to move on from the traumatic events of season 2. But because this is stranger things it looks like there’s another Government conspiracy threatening the town as we see glimpses of familiar aliens from the Upside Down and even a few goons in gas masks and threatening strangers with guns. The trailer gives us plenty of glimpses at things to come in the season, but doesn’t explain much so we’ll have to wait for the show’s return to discover what exactly is going on in Hawkins
The full cast of kids — Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven, Finn Wolfhard’s Mike, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, and Sadie Sink as Max — returns, with Lucas’ younger sister Erica snagging a full supporting cast role. Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Joe Keery round out the teenage cast with Maya Hawke (daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke) joining as “alternative girl” Robin. And Winona Ryder and David Harbour reprise their roles as Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper, respectively.
The third season of Stranger Things was pushed to summer 2019, with a release date of July 4.
