IDW’s new series takes us back to Idaho
Napoleon Dynamite is back. The sullen, inept, and improbably heroic midwestern teen has a new series from IDW Publishing, complete with provocatively topical cover art.
The four-issue series takes place after the events of the 2004 cult comedy classic, but not that much after. Pedro is still school president, but his administration hits a speed bump when a student accuses him of election fraud. It’s up to Napoleon and Deb to clear his name before, according to IDW’s press release, “the principal can ‘Impeach Pedro.’”

What happens next will be up to writer and sibling team Carlos Guzman-Verdugo and Alejandro Verdugo. They’re the writers behind the webcomic and the successfully Kickstarted physical comic, Time Cheetah. They’re joined by artist Jorge Monlongo (Over the Garden Wall: Hollow Town).
“With this new story, we’re focusing on matching the movie’s unique tone,” Guzman-Verdugo said in the press release, “finding that perfect blend of oddball comedy and charming slice-of-life drama. It’s certainly been a challenge but one we’re sure will pay off for long-time fans.”
Napoleon Dynamite #1 will hit shelves in September, 2019.
