Hop on board a thrill ride
Arkane Lyon stole the stage during Bethesda’s E3 presentation with the announcement of their new IP, Deathloop. Deathloop takes place on a frozen island named Black Reef, and the developers describe the game’s setting as a ‘time of madness’. We definitely got a glimpse at that madness in the announcement trailer that debuted at E3.
There’s a lot going on in the game’s setting — riots, spooky environments with flickering ghosts, supernatural powers, and a rivalry between two protagonists. There’s a time loop — one might call it the titular Deathloop — and one seeks to break the cycle while the other is attempting to perserve it.
The two protagonists, Julianna and Colt, both look like they’re equipped to do stylish, supernatural violence to each other. It’s not clear which role the player takes, or if they alternate between the characters, but it’s an extremely promising trailer from a studio that pulled off a similarly ambitious title in Dishonored.
Deathloop does not have a release date at this time.
