Resident Evil 5 and 6 coming to Nintendo Switch

Capcom’s bringing more survival horror to Switch in 2019

The Nintendo Switch is getting two more Resident Evil ports. Nintendo and Capcom announced during a Nintendo Direct E3 2019 presentation that Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will be released for Switch this fall.

Those two Resident Evil games join an already long list of survival horror re-releases on Switch. Over the past two years, Capcom has released the remake of the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Revelations, and Resident Evil Revelations 2 for Switch.

Resident Evil 5 was originally released in 2009 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game, which stars Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar, is a cooperative action survival horror adventure set in Africa. The Switch version will feature online and local co-op play.

Resident Evil 6 was originally released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It features four playable characters — Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller, and Ada Wong — and took the franchise in a more action-oriented direction with mixed results.
