Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek
Another popular battle royale streamer switches platforms
Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, one of Twitch’s most popular streamers, is making the switch to Mixer, Microsoft’s live streaming service. Grzesiek announced the move by tweeting out a short video on Thursday morning along with the caption, “same shroud. new home.”
This move comes just two months after Fortnite streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, another of Twitch’s most popular personalities, made the move to Mixer. Since he began streaming exclusively on Mixer, Ninja’s broadcasts have gone from averaging around 37,000 viewers to averaging around 14,000 according to Twitchtracker.com.
According to Twitchtracker, Grzesiek currently has the third highest subscriber count among individual streamers on Twitch. However, as part of the move, Mixer is offering viewers a free month-long subscription to Grzesiek’s channel as long as they have a Mixer account.
Grzesiek hasn’t shared any additional details about the Mixer switch beyond the additional tweet, so it’s unclear if Grzesiek will exclusively stream on Mixer going forward or not. If this deal is similar to Blevins’, then it’s likely that Mixer will be the exclusive streaming home of Grzesiek for the foreseeable future.
Grzesiek first gain notoriety as a Counter-Strike streamer before joining Cloud9 to play the game professionally. After a short pro career, Grzesiek moved to streaming full time, where he became one Twitch’s most popular streamers, with an emphasis on battle royale games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Apex Legends, as well as other multiplayer shooters.
According to his Mixer channel, which went live shortly after the announcement, Grzesiek’s first stream on the platform should come sometime around 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 24.
