Report: Overwatch 2, new mode and Echo coming at BlizzCon 2019

‘Push’ is the new mode, taking place on new map ‘Toronto’

Overwatch 2, long believed to be in the pipeline at Blizzard Entertainment, will be revealed at BlizzCon 2019 next weekend — with new hero Echo finally joining the game’s ranks, according to a report on ESPN.com.

Rod Breslau, writing for ESPN, cited a source within BlizzCon and a training document for the event in this morning’s report. The report also provides a screenshot showing a logo for the new game. Overwatch 2 will deliver “Push” the hero shooter’s first new mode since the game launched in 2015. Push likewise takes place on a new map, “Toronto,” according to Breslau.

Echo, an omnic, was revealed at BlizzCon 2018 in the “Reunion” trailer that also introduced Ashe, leader of the Deadlock Gang. McCree called Echo “pardner,” and she’s been depicted in some of Overwatch’s earliest concept art.

BlizzCon 2019 starts Friday at the Anaheim Convention Center and runs through the weekend. This past week also saw the leak of not-very-well-kept-secret Diablo 4, which is likewise expected to get a gala reveal at BlizzCon.
