Release date is set in early 2020
Gleamlight is a novel new platformer headed to the Nintendo Switch in early 2020. Developed by DICO and published by D3, the platforming adventure game looks like stained glass. The title was announced today during the Nintendo Indie World presentation.
“Gleamlight is an original game that tells a quiet and mysterious story in an artistic world with a stained-glass motif,” explained Hidekazu Nakajima, the game’s producer at D3, during Nintendo’s presentation. “In a world such as this, the player becomes a single sword, and with the help of children, fights against powerful enemies to uncover the mysteries of the world.”

Strangely, the game will not include a proper user interface. The voice speaking over the brief demo said that the game would adapt to player actions instead, presenting them the right information in context at the right time.
Fans of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will recognize DICO. After a history of contract and localization work, the team was added to the project after the Kickstarter campaign was completed. Bloodstained was originally scheduled to be released in 2017, but met with production delays and outright cancellations for some versions. Reviews remain mixed following Bloodstained’s release this summer on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was published by 505 Games.
